JACKSON’S JOHNSON CROWNED AS NATIONAL CHAMPION
1st October 2008
Last week, at Thruxton race track, resting amongst some of Hampshire’s most idyllic thatched villages, a Jackson Building Centres employee was crowned the ACU 250GP National Champion 2008.
Staff at the Sutton-in-Ashfield Branch of the builders merchants were celebrating the victory of colleague, Ben Johnson as he claimed an emphatic 250GP ACU National Championship title, beating his rival by just 2 points.
At the Hampshire race track on Saturday, 4th October, Ben Johnson claimed the title in front of a large crowd. Despite taking third place in the race, it was just enough to keep his title rivals at bay in a Championship that saw drama and excitement right to the end.
25 year old Ben Johnson, Heavyside Estimator of Jacksons explains, “It was a fantastic day and I am still overwhelmed by winning the title, especially since a cracked cylinder head and an engine blow-up during morning warm-up and timed qualifying my Double M Racing Honda appeared to be on a mission to disrupt any title hopes as several major mechanical problems crept in which meant I only completed 5 laps.
However, my last lap was good enough for a second row start, which gained me the National Championship title for 2008!”
