27th February 2007

The 52nd Lincoln Grand Prix Cycle race now heading towards its 52nd edition welcomes a new major sponsor to the event. Jackson Building Centres have been associated with the one day classis event for the past two years but now come on board as the major commercial supporter for the 86 mile race.

Andy Williams, Lincoln Branch Manager, said he is enthusiastic in the company’s support of the event and continued :  “In order for a successful race in 2007, the Lincoln Grand Prix relies on sponsorship from the business community.  This year local Builders Merchant, Jackson Building Centres are delighted to have the opportunity to sponsor the prestigious event.  This won't be the first time Jackson's provide support to the Lincoln Grand Prix Cycle Race, they were also sponsors in 2006 and are proud to continue their association with the country's premier road cycling event. “

Race Organiser, Ian Emmerson, welcomed the company back to the event, this time in a major sponsorship role : “ Without the support of local companies it would not be possible for great events like the Grand Prix to take place in the City. The race is now seen world wide on television and there can be no greater setting than Lincoln for such an event “

A dedicated supporter of the community, Jackson Building Centres is regularly involved with local sporting events and organisations.  The company is now in it's sixth year of sponsorship with the Lincoln 10k run and both Lincoln City Football Club and Lincoln United Football Club have also benefited from the support provided by Jackson's.

Jackson Building Centres has a history to match that of the Lincoln Grand Prix Cycle Race.  Established in 1946, the company has risen from modest beginnings to become one of the city's main employers.  Ever expanding, there are now branches of Jackson Building Centres in twenty-two locations across the East Midlands and Yorkshire.

Jackson's have been providing professional advice to the region for over sixty years, supplying everyone from the DIY enthusiast to the professional tradesman.  Today, Jackson Building Centres have many specialist departments all under one roof, offering a 'one-stop-shop' facility.  The Jackson brand is one of the most respected in the building industry. It is trusted by the trade and relied upon by homeowners.

The 2007 Grand Prix is on Sunday May 13th and will again attract teams from abroad to take on the best of the British elite riders over 11 laps of the infamous 8 mile circuit which includes a climb of the 1 in 6 and cobbled Michaelgate on each lap with the final sprint to the Castle Square finish after 86 miles of hard racing.

Lincoln City Council continues with its full support for the race which along with the Lincoln 10K is the sporting shop window of the City with both events taking part against the background of the City’s historic Cathedral and Castle tourist areas.

Sponsorship has also been agreed for 2007 with Chattertons Solicitors, Lincolnshire CoOperative, Marshall Land Rover, Holland Brothers Jaguar, NatWest Bank and Impsport with several other negotiations continuing.
