Jackson Building Centres went the extra mile to become the proud sponsors of the 2006 Lincoln 10K Road Race which took place on Sunday 2nd April.
Jackson’s has supported the race for the last 4 years, but this is the first time it has been the main sponsor. The popular race attracted around 4,000 entrants and 40 staff from the company’s 20 branches, throughout the East Midlands, took part.
This year’s race had a particularly competitive edge, as dedicated staff were determined to better last year’s fundraising total and improve on their finishing times. Sponsorship money has reached £1,850 to date and is still rising, the funds raised will benefit Jackson’s nominated charity The British Heart Foundation.
One member of staff put in a particularly brave effort, Mike Heward of the Grimsby branch completed the entire race on crutches.
There were also some very impressive finishing times from Keith Kearns of the Lincoln Branch who achieved the fastest time in the group, finishing the race in just 42 minutes and Colin Bartleet, marketing manager at the Lincoln branch, who finished with a very respectable time of 56 minutes.
Colin commented: “I am particularly proud that Jackson’s were the main sponsor of this year’s event, which I believe has been bigger and better than ever before. Everyone put in so much effort to make the race such a great success and I want to thank all the staff at Jackson’s and everyone who has taken part for their efforts in raising such a significant sum of money for this very deserved charity.”
For more than 40 years, The British Heart Foundation has been at the forefront of the fight against heart disease. As the largest independent of funder of heart research in the UK, it plays an important role in educating public and health professionals and providing life saving cardiac equipment and support for rehabilitation and patient care.
