JACKSON’S MAKES NEW BRANCH APPOINTMENT
19th July 2005
A HARD-working employee has been promoted for the fourth time in his ten-year career with a Lincoln-based builders’ merchant.
Paul Futter, who lives in Firsby, has been appointed assistant branch manager of the Skegness and Spilsby stores of Jackson Building Centres.
Paul, 48, joined the company as a sales assistant at Spilsby in 1995 and was then promoted to timber products manager. He progressed to the position of heavyside department manger and became Spilsby depot manager last year.
The Skegness and Splisby branches operate jointly and Paul now has responsibilities at both outlets for the first time. He said he had found the first few weeks of his new job very interesting and was learning new things all the time.
Jackson’s executive board member Robin Laidler described Paul as a very competent member of the team and wished him every success in his new role.
Paul’s appointment coincides with a significant refurbishment project at the Skegness branch where the showroom – one of the largest in the company - has been given a facelift. Work has focused on creating a much bigger sales counter in the centre of the showroom using floor space previously occupied by a fireplace display.
According to Jackson’s group showroom manager Maxine Arva, the changes have had a massive impact on the Burgh Road store. “Skegness is a very busy branch and we felt that we could utilise the space for both staff and customers much more effectively by repositioning and extending the sales counter and increasing the storage area. It also gave us an opportunity to generally freshen up the whole showroom by altering the layout and adding new products. The fireplace display has also been given much better exposure and the alterations have been a great success.
Work on the new-look showroom should be finished within the next few weeks but it remains open as usual to trade and retail customers in the meantime.
