INSTALLINGa shower has never been more popular in the UK. The fashion for en suites in larger homes has increased demand - as has the need when space in the bathroom is at a premium.
Manufacturers have responded with a wide range of shower fittings and enclosures to suit different needs and styles of décor. The choices can be daunting but experienced staff at Jackson Building Centres will be happy to guide you. The company has 20 branches throughout the East Midlands, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, many with extensive showrooms fitted with a range of the latest products.
The first thing to consider is the type of shower system you would like. There are technical issues to consider which depend on the type of hot water supply you have in your home and how powerful you want the shower to be. Once again Jackson’s staff will be able to point you in the right direction.
When you know what your water heating system will support you can choose from the different shower types available. These vary from a fixed showerhead, or one that can be hand-held, to a tower of multiple jets. Some include the option to vary the water flow according to your mood – from a high-pressure ‘wake-me-up’ pounding to a ‘treat-me-gently’ mist.
The next item on your shopping list will be the perfect setting for your shower. This will depend on your taste, the style of your home and the space available. You might choose an ultra-modern urban wet room or a classically styled enclosure.
If space is tight there is a range of tray sizes and different types of door which could solve the problem. Or you can keep things simple with a ‘walk-in’ doorless shower. This is an S-shaped enclosure which includes both a drying area and showering section. Some walk-ins are designed to fit exactly in the space where a standard-sized bathtub has been removed.
Recent developments in shower manufacture can cut down the time it takes to keep your enclosure bright and sparkling – which is particularly useful in a hard water area such as the East Midlands, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire region. Several manufacturers now offer the option of having the glass factory-treated to resist water droplets and lime scale. Showerheads are also available which will resist the scaling affect of hard water.
As well as the fittings on display, Jackson Building Centres stock a range of suppliers catalogues for you to browse through to ensure you have the widest possible choice. So don’t forget – you’re home and dry when you shop for a shower at Jackson’s.
