2nd March 2004

Jackson Building Centres has strengthened its involvement with the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) with the appointment of Lyndon Johnson to the trade association’s national board.

Lyndon is branch manager of the Jackson Building Centres in Sutton-in-Ashfield.  He has served as chairman of the Federation’s East Midlands regional body for the past two years.  Lyndon has recently been elected to the Federation’s national board.  He will now represent members in the East Midlands region at a national level.

Jackson’s has a long tradition of involvement with the Builders Merchants Federation.  The company’s founder director was a former President of the Federation.   A number of current Jackson’s employees are also actively involved with the trade association on a regional basis.

Commenting on Johnson's appointment to the board, Federation Secretary Peter Matthews said: "We are delighted that Lyndon is continuing Jackson’s long and honourable involvement with the Federation.  As a national board member he will be voicing and addressing the needs of local members across a range of business issues.  Overall, his valuable time will be spent in furthering the work of the Federation for the good of the whole industry."

"This appointment is a great privilege, I am looking forward to serving on the national board of the BMF and working towards taking the industry forward in a progressive and positive manner." said Lyndon.

The Federation provides builders merchants with the support and advice needed to operate in a competitive environment.  Members operate over 1,000 branches across the UK, supplying around £2.3billion of building materials annually to trade and retail markets.
